Brgy. Ginebra slides back to 9th spot after deflating loss to Alaska

Alaska captured its third victory in the elimination round of the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup after conquering Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 89-75, Friday night at the Don Honorio Ventura State University in Bacolor, Pampanga.

The Aces returned to action after missing the previous week due to the league’s health and safety protocols.

Abu Tratter led the way with 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting to go along with 4 rebounds and 1 steal while Jeron Teng posted 10 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Mike Digregorio added 11 points and 2 assists.

“It feels really good to be back, playing again. It feels better to be able to be successful today. We’re here for a reason. All teams are here for a reason. And we never forgot that.” said Alaska coach Jeffrey Cariaso.

“Today we survived and then tomorrow is another battle that we’re going to face.” he added.

The 1996 PBA Grand Slam champs improved to 3 victories against 4 defeats but remained out of the playoff picture.

The Gin Kings’ chances of defending the All-Filipino crown is now in jeopardy after the deflating loss as they’re now back in 9th spot with 4 wins and 6 losses.

Stanley Pringle paced the defending champions with 20 points on 38% shooting from the field while Scottie Thompson tallied 17 points and 12 rebounds. Christian Standhardinger contributed 9 points and 9 boards.
