Brgy. Ginebra plans to bring back Justin Brownlee for import-laden second conference

Justin Brownlee, most likely, will play for Barangay Ginebra if the import-laced second conference of the 46th PBA season pushes through.

Gin Kings head coach Tim Cone said last May that Brownlee is available in case a reinforced conference is played this year and the status remains unchanged.

“The plan is for Justin to return,” said the 63-year old American mentor.

“He is ready to come over anytime,” he added.

The 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Best Import averaged 30.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 2.3 steals in his last stint with the crowd darlings.

The PBA is planning to hold an import-laden conference by mid-November with a 6-foot-6 height restriction.

Prior to the start of the second conference, the league must obtain a go-signal from the local government that will host the tournament. The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) already allowed the league last July to play games in a general community quarantine (GCQ) area.

Brownlee guided the team to four titles, including the 2019 Governor’s Cup where they defeated Meralco 4-1 in the best-of-seven series.

Brgy. Ginebra is now eager to return to practice after failing to retain the All-Filipino crown, falling into the hands of top-seed TNT in the quarterfinal round.

“We’re just waiting for league approval to start practicing again,” said Cone.
