Meralco def Brgy. Ginebra, 87-80 [SF Game 3 | PBA S48 PH Cup | May 22, 2024]

With the previous game serving as a wake-up call, the Barangay Ginebra Kings are now regrouping and strategizing for Game Three in the PBA Philippine Cup best-of-seven semifinals.

In this crucial matchup, both teams are vying for the 2-1 lead in the series.

“We need to get contributions from everybody and we didn’t get that (in Game Two),” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone.

“The game plan was obvious, put the ball on Christian’s hands and make them beat us from the line. And he was almost up to the task. He kept his goings, he kept his hands. But they (Meralco) did a good job of shutting everybody else down,” he added.

Key players such as Scottie Thompson, Japeth Aguilar, and Stanley Pringle are being called upon to elevate their performance as the Gin Kings look to bounce back from their recent defeat and replicate their earlier success in the series.

The upcoming game between the Kings and the Bolts promises to be intense as they clash in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

The Bolts have shown their defensive prowess, particularly in containing Standhardinger while also putting pressure on other key players in their previous encounter.

“We have so much respect for them and I’m sure they have the same respect for us. It’s gut it out, it’s hard (fought). I’m sure the fans enjoy that, we enjoy it, we love that type of atmosphere,” said Meralco mentor Luigi Trillo.

Both teams are determined to break the one-game deadlock and secure a crucial advantage in the series. The stage is set for an exciting showdown as they battle it out at the Dasmariñas Arena at 7:30 p.m.
