Brgy. Ginebra def Phoenix, 94-72 [PBA S49 Comm’s Cup | Dec. 13, 2024]

Brgy. Ginebra faced a challenging start in their conference debut but managed to secure a 109-100 victory over NLEX on Wednesday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Just 48 hours later, the Gin Kings are back on the NAS hardwood, eager to build on their initial success and aim for a follow-up win against a struggling Phoenix Super LPG team.

In their opener, Ginebra showcased a dominant third-quarter offensive burst to fend off the Road Warriors, with new acquisition Troy Rosario playing a pivotal role in the win.

The consensus among fans and analysts alike is clear: Rosario is a valuable addition that perfectly complements an already formidable Ginebra roster.

Head coach Tim Cone also pointed out the significance of Stephen Holt returning to the guard positions where he thrives.

In a spectacular return to backcourt duties, Holt erupted for 26 points while effectively shutting down Robert Bolick, helping the Kings snap the Road Warriors’ three-game winning streak.

On Friday, Ginebra faces off against Phoenix at 7:30 p.m., in pursuit of their second consecutive victory over a team that is desperate for its first win in four outings.

The Fuel Masters currently sit at 0-3 but could easily have a different record, having come painfully close in their last two contests against Meralco (111-109) and San Miguel Beer (107-104).

Donovan Smith and his teammates are determined to keep grinding, as they look to turn their season around.
