TNT def Brgy. Ginebra, 96-84 [PBA S49 Govs’ Cup Finals Game 2 | Oct. 30, 2024]

TNT is determined to stay focused on its game plan and leverage its strengths. Meanwhile, Barangay Ginebra will be strategizing to regain their footing and find their rhythm.

This sets the stage for the Tropang Giga and the Kings as they continue their PBA Governors’ Cup championship rivalry, with TNT aiming for a 2-0 lead this Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

In their previous matchup on Sunday at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and his teammates excelled both offensively and defensively, overwhelming the Kings in a commanding 104-88 victory.

Game One was a battle of dominance, and this theme is likely to carry over into Round 2, which tips off at 7:30 p.m. at the Big Dome.

While the Tropang Giga showcased their prowess in the series opener, they understand the importance of not becoming complacent, as they still have a long journey ahead. Conversely, the Kings are disappointed with their Game One performance but remain undeterred.

Coach Tim Cone is well aware of the challenges they faced and is focused on making the necessary adjustments for a comeback.

The primary objective for Ginebra will be to break free from TNT’s tenacious defensive grip and discover effective ways to score.

As the league’s top three-point shooting team, Ginebra’s performance was notably subpar, failing to convert on all 18 of their three-point attempts during the first three quarters.

The Tropang Giga took full advantage, securing a 16-point victory while limiting the Kings to a dismal 2-of-21 from beyond the arc throughout the game.

With their defensive strategy in place, TNT’s offense thrived, with Hollis-Jefferson, Rey Nambatac, Poy Erram, Jayson Castro, and RR Pogoy all contributing in double figures during the high-stakes opener played before an enthusiastic crowd in Antipolo.

A large turnout is anticipated for Game Two, which promises to be an exhilarating showdown.
