Brgy. Ginebra def TNT, 106-92 [PBA S49 Govs’ Cup Finals Game 4 | Nov. 3, 2024]

Fresh off a morale-boosting victory on All Saints’ Day, Barangay Ginebra is poised to continue its momentum as they seek to even the series in Game 4 of the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup Finals. This pivotal matchup will unfold on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. Ginebra aims to build on their recent 85-73 triumph over TNT in Game 3 last Friday.

Before the action kicks off in Game 4, the PBA will honor outstanding players during its awarding ceremonies for the Best Player of the Conference (BPC) and Best Import accolades. San Miguel star center June Mar Fajardo currently leads the race for the BPC, while TNT’s versatile reinforcement Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is on track to secure his second Best Import title.

Additionally, fans can look forward to a halftime performance by the world-renowned Harlem Globetrotters, part of their iconic global tour, which also includes stops in Southeast Asian nations such as Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore.

Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone expressed satisfaction with the team’s defensive efforts, noting their success in limiting the Tropang Giga to just 73 points. However, he acknowledged the wear and tear on his players after a grueling semifinal series against San Miguel Beer, which he believes may have drained their energy reserves.

In the ongoing Finals, resident import Justin Brownlee is averaging an impressive 44 minutes per game, while star playmaker Scottie Thompson is clocking over 36 minutes. Meanwhile, veterans Maverick Ahanmisi and Japeth Aguilar have also logged significant minutes, with 32 and 31, respectively, raising concerns for Cone about potential fatigue.

For TNT, Hollis-Jefferson has been carrying a heavy load, averaging nearly 47 minutes on the court during the Finals while delivering impressive stats of 26.67 points, 12.33 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.67 blocks per game.

Currently, TNT leads the series 2-1 and is expected to mount a fierce response against Ginebra’s offense in Game 4, as they aim to capture their third consecutive win in the tightly contested title series.
