Business as usual for Scottie Thompson
Scottie Thompson has begun attending Brgy. Ginebra’s group workouts in preparation for the PBA’s planned restart on October 9 at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga.
Aside from his duties with the Gin Kings, the 27-year old native of Padada, Davao del Sur is also taking a proactive role in the reopening of his businesses.
Thompson’s string of barber shops and fitness gyms were among those heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic since they were ordered closed by the government as a safety precaution.
“Yung mga branches ko ng gym na-close ko muna dahil walang kita. At siyempre, yung mga empleyado kailangan mo ring bigyan ng separation pay,” explained the energetic guard out of the University of Perpetual Help.
“Although Acts of God naman itong mga nangyayari, yung mga negosyo natin lugi rin naman. So malaking sacrifice talaga para sa amin,” he added.
With the government slowly easing restrictions and gradually reopening the economy after nearly six months of lockdown, Thompson is optimistic that his once thriving businesses will recover in the same way the league is planning to revive the stalled 2020 Philippine Cup.
