Coach Tim Cone accompanies Jeremiah Gray to Medical City

Moments after the Brgy. Ginebra’s 91-85 victory over the NLEX Road Warriors on Sunday evening at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, the team’s coaching staff rushed to nearby Medical City to check on the status of sophomore guard Jeremiah Gray.

The 26-year-old Gray sustained a knee injury during the closing seconds of the 3rd quarter and the initial prognosis is that he suffered a second ACL tear. The Gin Kings’ stand-in coach Richard del Rosario is keeping his fingers crossed that the injury is not that serious.

“We’re going to see him in the hospital to check on him. Hopefully we’ll get good news once they do the check up,” said del Rosario.

Head coach Tim Cone, who took time away from his Gilas Pilipinas duties to watch Brgy. Ginebra’s final game in the 2023 PBA On Tour, rode in the ambulance with Gray as the Fil-Am guard was transported to the said hospital.

With 22 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Gray twisted his knee after trying to evade a pursuing Tony Semerad while attempting to score on the break.

Ironically, he was carried out on a stretcher in the same venue where he suffered an ACL injury while playing for TNT in the inaugural season of the PBA 3×3 tournament.

“We’re offering this to Miah. All prayers up for Miah. Importante lang he gets better and he gets his knee checked. We’re hoping for the best,” said del Rosario.
