Cone says Slaughter not retiring: “He just wants to take a break for 3 to 4 months”

Tim Cone believes that Greg Slaughter is not quitting basketball for good.
The 31-year old Fil-Am is currently is not in Brgy. Ginebra’s active roster for the upcoming Philippine Cup following his decision to take a sabbatical and focus on improving his craft.
“I don’t think he’s out forever. I don’t think he is retiring. I think he really needs to take a mental break,” said Cone during the PBA Media Day on Thursday at the Okada.
The Gin Kings mentor, who spoke with Slaughter during an exit interview conducted shortly after the team reclaimed the Governors’ Cup crown, admitted that the former Ateneo de Manila center already informed him of his plans during their conversation.
“It was more at that time, a consideration. But he said, I like to take a break for three or four months. This was literally two days after the championship. And we went into the meeting, I met with all the players. I have all these things prepared to talk about,” revealed Cone.
“When I walked into the room with Greg, first thing he said was I’m going to take a break. That was our conversation. We didn’t get anything else done but that conversation. That’s the true honest story on what happened,” he added.
