Emotional Scottie Thompson dedicates Philippine Cup title to departed grandmother
Scottie Thompson was overwhelmed with grief after his beloved ‘lola’ passed away last October.
The 27-year old native of Padada, Davao del Sur was extremely devastated since it happened while he was inside the PBA bubble in Clark, Pampanga and was unable to pay his last respects as the league disallows exit and re-entry in accordance with the government’s health protocols.
Rest easy lola, I love you so much,” wrote the 6-foot-1 guard out of University of Perpetual Help on his Facebook account.
And after the Gin Kings finally bagged the elusive Philippine Cup title last Wednesday, the team’s first since 2007, the first thing that came to Thompson’s mind while he was being interviewed after the match was the promise he made to his lola.
Sana patuloy mo akong suportahan,” said an emotional Thompson.
The very first thing that the now 5-time PBA champion plans to do after he exits the bubble is to pay her a visit.
