Gin Kings arrive at PBA bubble in Clark

Brgy. Ginebra arrived at the Quest Hotel in Clark, Pampanga around 2:00pm on Tuesday, September 29.

All the players were subjected to swab tests upon arrival and were advised to stay inside their designated rooms until the results are released.

Once everybody checks out negative, the team can now proceed with 5-on-5 scrimmages.

The Gin Kings’ roster for the 2020 Philippine Cup is almost intact, with Greg Slaughter as the only notable player missing from the team that reclaimed the Governors’ Cup crown last January.

Aside from the 7-foot Fil-Am, gone are Teytey Teodoro and Julian Sargent. Taking their places are blue-chip rookies Arvin Tolentino, Jerrick Balanza and Kent Salado.

Tim Cone’s squad will be looking to end a 13-year title drought in the All-Filipino conference. And with June Mar Fajardo not around to anchor San Miguel’s quest for a sixth straight Philippine Cup crown, the league’s winningest mentor believes that now is the best time to dethrone the Beermen.

“I think it’s a wide-open field. Probably for the first time in five, six years, the All-Filipino is up for grabs. I don’t think there’s a decided favorite out there but I think any team can step up,” said Cone.

“I’m saying that in all honesty. You say that in previous conferences but at the back of your mind, you say, oh, it’s still San Miguel.”
