Gin Kings bounce back in Game 3, regain semis series lead

Justin Brownlee emerged as the undeniable hero for Brgy. Ginebra, spearheading their swift comeback against San Miguel in Game 3 of the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup semifinals.
In an exhilarating clash, the Gin Kings triumphed over the Beermen, 99-94, effectively reclaiming their lead in the series on Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Dasmarinas City Arena in Cavite.
After suffering a heartbreaking defeat in a previous overtime thriller, 125-131, the crowd darlings now hold a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-seven series.
Brownlee showcased his remarkable talent, contributing 30 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and five blocks, leading Brgy. Ginebra to fend off a determined Beermen squad that threatened to snatch victory in the dying minutes.
His most critical play came with just 20.9 seconds remaining, when he deftly maneuvered past EJ Anosike and executed a stunning layup over San Miguel main man June Mar Fajardo, widening the gap to 97-90.
Supporting Brownlee were Japeth Aguilar, who added a solid 22 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and a block, along with Maverick Ahanmisi, whose clutch free throws with 12.2 seconds left secured the win and capped off his valuable 15-point contribution.
On the opposing side, Anosike led the Beermen with an impressive 32 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block, while CJ Perez chipped in with 13 points.
The stage is now set for Game 3, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
