Gin Kings eye bounce back win against Dyip
Brgy. Ginebra and Terrafirma are set to face off in the main event of the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup Sunday lineup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, with both teams eager to bounce back from tough losses.
The Gin Kings fell short in a nail-biting showdown against the San Miguel Beermen, losing 95-92 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday. Meanwhile, the Dyip also suffered a close defeat to the Meralco Bolts, with a final score of 86-83, just two nights earlier at the Big Dome.
Now, both teams are focused on regaining their momentum to stay in the hunt for the top spots in the quarterfinals race.
Coach Tim Cone’s squad is currently tied for fourth place with Blackwater at 3-2, while Terrafirma is close behind at 3-3, sharing the spot with the Bolts.
As they reach the halfway mark of the elimination round, the crowd darlings are looking to secure a win against coach Johnedel Cardel’s Dyip, who are determined to make a strong push towards the playoffs.
Facing a large deficit against the Beermen, the Gin Kings showed resilience and fought back, despite missing key player Scottie Thompson.
Similarly, the Dyip have displayed grit and competitiveness throughout the tournament, setting the stage for an intense showdown between the two teams.
Expect a fierce battle between standout players such as Christian Standhardinger, Japeth Aguilar, Stanley Pringle, Jamie Malonzo, and LA Tenorio for Brgy. Ginebra, and Stephen Holt, Juami Tiongson, JP Calvo, Isaac Go, and Aldrech Ramos for Terrafirma.
Both sides are determined to come out on top as they aim to secure a spot in the top eight of the standings.
