Gin Kings sign Murrell, relegrate Dillinger to unrestricted free agent list

Brgy. Ginebra has made a significant addition to their lineup by signing David Murrell off waivers, providing a much-needed boost to a depleted Gin Kings roster.

With key players such as Jamie Malonzo, Aljon Mariano, and Jeremiah Gray out due to injuries, the 6-foot-4 Murrell is poised to step in and contribute on the wing, with the transaction being finalized on Thursday.

Having most recently played for the Magnolia Hotshots, Murrell’s versatility and skill set make him a valuable asset for the crowd darlings.

Following his stint with the Converge FiberXers in the PBA Season 47 Philippine Cup, where he averaged 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game, Murrell moved to Magnolia as part of a trade that also brought Abu Tratter to the Hotshots.

Murrell’s arrival prompted the Gin Kings to place Jared Dillinger on the unrestricted free agent list as they continue to navigate through their roster adjustments due to injuries.

Brgy. Ginebra head coach Tim Cone emphasized the importance of finding players to step up and fill the gaps left by injuries, making Murrell’s signing a timely and strategic move for the team as they aim to strengthen their lineup for the remaining games in the All-Filipino conference.

The Gin Kings are currently third in the standings with a 6-3 win-loss record and still have Converge (April 27) and NLEX (May 5) in their elimination round schedule.
