Greg Slaughter planning to play in NBA G League, says Tim Cone

Greg Slaughter’s status with Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel remains a big question mark.

The 32-year old Fil-Am, who announced his decision to take an indefinite leave from the team last February 8, is currently in the US and apparently isn’t keen on returning to the country anytime soon.

“We’ve tried to contact him a couple of times. I tried to contact him and he hasn’t responded,” said Gin Kings coach Tim Cone during an interview in the online show Coaches Unfiltered on Thursday.

“We don’t know if he’s going to come back,” added the amiable mentor.

Cone bared that while he has no clue with regards to the 7-footer’s immediate plans, he, however, has gotten wind of the 5-time PBA All Star’s intention to try his luck in the NBA G League.

“We do know just like everybody else that he’s working out, and the last we heard he’s gonna try out with the NBA G League,” said Cone. “I don’t know if that’s true or not, we heard that from a third party that he’s gonna tryout for the G-League.”

“He won’t be in G-League until next year because they’re not gonna have the G-League this year. G-League won’t start until probably April or May next year,” added the PBA’s winningest mentor.

The Gin Kings still hold the rights on Slaughter should the 2013 PBA Rookie of the Year decide to return.
