Greg Slaughter speaks up, denies making demands and knowledge about the trade

Greg Slaughter broke his silence regarding his controversial decision to take a sudden leave of absence from Brgy. Ginebra after his contract with the team expired last January.

The 7-foot Fil Am took to Twitter to clear any misconceptions and at the same time greet his followers a ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’.

“There have been a lot of inaccurate theories going around about my recent decision, here are facts,” wrote Slaughter.

“I never received any contract offer. It’s unfair to say I made demands when there was no offer. I was never aware of any trade,” he added.

Just recently, multiple sources from SPIN.ph and INQUIRER.net have claimed that Slaughter knew of the brewing trade deal which would send him along with incoming rookie Jerrick Balanza to NorthPort for Christian Standhardinger and has expressed resentment over it.

And sensing that team management is hell-bent on pursuing the deal, Slaughter did the next best thing which is to publicly announce his decision to take an indefinite leave. The move nipped the trade in the bud and left a big question mark on his future in the league.

Despite the absence of a live contract, the Gin Kings still hold the rights on the disgruntled center until they trade him or release him unconditionally.
