It’s time for Japeth to really soar high and be the team’s leader, says LA Tenorio
Brgy. Ginebra kicked off its preparations for the upcoming season without disgruntled center Greg Slaughter.
The 31-year old Fil-Am stood firm on his decision to take a leave from the team and ‘work on all aspects on himself’ after his contract expired last January.
Gin Kings chief playmaker LA Tenorio declined to comment on Slaughter’s decision but says he respects the decision of his teammate.
“Personally, I respect Greg’s decision so kung ano decision niya o kung ano mangyayari sa buhay niya, it’s not my business,” said the 35-year old Batangeño.
While acknowledging that the 7-footer will indeed be a huge loss, Tenorio explained that his absence will give the team’s other big men especially Japeth Aguilar a chance to fully blossom.
“For us, it is the time for Japeth to really be the leader, yung maging main man na matagal na namin hinahanap sa kanya,” said Tenorio.
“Siguro set up din to for Japeth to really soar high this coming season. I think this is the MVP season for Japeth, and I’m expecting that from him after what he showed last conference,” added the 3-time PBA Finals MVP.
