Jeff Chan listed as day-to-day due to hamstring injury
Jeff Chan sustained a hamstring injury midway through the first half of Game 1 of the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup best-of-seven Finals series between Brgy. Ginebra and Meralco.
The 36-year old native of Bacolod City managed to play for 2 minutes and was able to contribute 2 points before coach Tim Cone pulled him out of the game for good.
The Gin Kings went on to win the series opener courtesy of Japeth Aguilar’s gave-saving block and super import Justin Brownlee’s 4 clutch free throws.
“Medyo nag-tighten yung hamstring ko kaya hindi ako tumagal nung Game 1,” said Chan.
“Not sure pa. Ang labas nito day-to-day. Pero hindi naman namin pipilitin if tight pa talaga,” he added when asked if he could play in Game 2 which is scheduled on Friday, January 10 at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City.
Aside from Chan, other Brgy. Ginebra players who have health issues are Arthur dela Cruz, Jared Dillinger and Mark Caguioa.
“We’re down with a lot of guys so we need guys to step up. So we got to get a little bit deeper in our lineup because we got four effective rotation players that are in sickbay at this point,” said Cone.
