Jeremiah Gray discharged from hospital

Brgy. Ginebra guard Jeremiah Gray has been released from the hospital just three days after dislocating his right knee during last Sunday’s PBA on Tour game against NLEX.

“He (Gray) was already discharged. (Just) waiting for the swelling to go down then will have a check-up with the doctors,” said Gin Kings assistant coach Richard del Rosario.

Shortly after the catastrophic fall in the final 22 seconds of the third quarter, the 6-foot-5 Gray was rushed to Medical City. He had just stolen the ball and was on his way to a layup while trying to avoid NLEX forward Tony Semerad when the unfortunate incident occurred.

Del Rosario, who called the shots for the crowd darlings during the exhibition series as head coach Tim Cone is currently assisting Chot Reyes at Gilas Pilipinas, said there is currently no clear finding as they await the physicians’ report on Gray’s MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) result.

“I can’t really say (on what action the team will make on Gray’s injury). Depends on what they (doctors) see in the MRI.”

The 26-year-old Gray, an incoming sophomore, led the squad in scoring and rebounding in the pre-season tournament with averages of 14.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists.

The Gin Kings defeated the Road Warriors 91-85 on the final day last Sunday to finish with a 6-5 record, tied for fifth and sixth place with the Converge FiberXers.

Japeth Aguilar, Scottie Thompson and Jamie Malonzo did not participate as they were training with Gilas, while Christian Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle rested during the extended offseason.

Gray was chosen second overall by Terrafirma in the 2022 PBA Rookie Draft but was subsequently dealt to Brgy. Ginebra in exchange for eighth overall pick Javi Gomez de Liano and guard Brian Enriquez.

He missed the entire Philippine Cup due to an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tear and made his PBA debut during the elimination round of the league’s Season 47 Commissioner’s Cup.
