Justin Brownlee overtakes Lamont Strothers as PBA import with most three-pointers

Justin Brownlee drained a total of 4 triples en route to 35 points in Game 2 of the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup best-of-seven Finals series between Brgy. Ginebra and Meralco, Friday at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City.

The Gin Kings, however, failed to make it 2-0 as the Bolts held off the crowd darlings’ last-minute surge to even the series at 1-game apiece.

As per PBA head statistician Fidel Mangonon, Brownlee’s first trey of the game pushed him past former SMB import Lamont Strothers who finished his PBA career with 325 three-pointers made. The well-loved Brgy. Ginebra resident import now has a total of 329.

The record-breaking feat by the 31-year old American cemented his status as one of the best-ever to grace the league.

He is currently playing in his 6th conference since debuting in 2016 and has led the Tim Cone-mentored squad to three championships.

With Brownlee leading the way, the Gin Kings won the 2016 and 2017 Governors’ Cup before claiming the 2018 Commissioner’s. The team failed in its bid for a three-peat in the 2018 season-ending conference but is now on course to regain the crown and continue the trend of winning at least 1 title every year.
