Justin Brownlee set to arrive this week
Brgy. Ginebra’s resident import Justin Brownlee has completed all the requirements and is expected to arrive in the country soon to join the Gin Kings in their bid to defend the Governors’ Cup crown.
“Right now he’s scheduled to come in on the 25th, but I think he’s going to leave earlier. Maybe this weekend, so we could have him either Monday or Tuesday,” said coach Tim Cone on the Power & Play program.
He will undergo the necessary quarantine protocols before joining forces with the team he successfully led to the 2019 Governors’ Cup crown.
Brownlee reinforced the crowd darlings in numerous conferences since his 2016 debut. He won a total of four championships with the team – three in the Governors’ Cup and one in the Commissioners’ Cup.
Cone also told, in the same program, that Brownlee acquired COVID-19 while he’s in Dubai last year.
“He played in Dubai during the pandemic and of course, he got COVID,” said Cone. “11 of his 12 teammates got COVID when he was in Dubai. They weren’t strict there back then, and everybody was falling by the side.”
In order to keep in shape, Brownlee played in small tournaments after returning to the US, bared Cone. “He claims to be in good shape.”
