LA Tenorio heads to Singapore to begin chemotherapy treatment

LA Tenorio left for Singapore earlier this week to begin chemotherapy treatment on his stage 3 colon cancer.
Brgy. Ginebra governor Alfracis Chua bared during the PBA Season 47 Governors’ Cup Finals press conference that the team’s chief playmaker took a flight out of Manila last Monday to start the initial phase of a projected 6-month chemotherapy session.
The 38-year old Tenorio had already undergone surgery in Singapore last month when his medical condition was first diagnosed.
“He’s in Singapore now for his treatment. Baka wala siya for Game 1, pero he could be back for the other games ng finals,” said Chua.
Gin Kings head coach Tim Cone, however, has a different understanding of Tenorio’s calendar. The league’s winningest mentor believes that the 4th overall pick of the 2006 rookie draft will be on hand for Game 1 of the Finals but will miss the remainder.
Regardless if he is physically present or not, Cone stressed that the crowd darlings will always have Tenorio in their hearts and minds.
“It’s a very emotional subject for us. To say that we’re playing for LA is a cliché. It’s so much deeper than that. It’s so deeper in so many levels,” said Cone.
“It’s really difficult just to talk about LA. We think about him all the time. He’s constantly with us, he’s constantly in our minds. He’s a presence that hovers over us all the time. Whether this happened to him or not, he’d still be an inspiration.”
