LA Tenorio to dedicate championship game to ‘kababayans’ in Batangas

LA Tenorio’s hometown of Nasugbu in the province of Batangas was just recently hit by the eruption of nearby Taal Volcano and it has been a cause for concern for the 14-year PBA veteran.

Good thing though is that the Brgy. Ginebra guard’s family is already out of harm’s way.

“Lahat ng family ko at relatives ko, sa Nasugbu. They’re okay. Some of my cousins are doing voluntary work also, and yung school dun naging one of the evacuation centers sa Batangas,” explained Tenorio.

“I keep in touch with the family. My parents are here since nangyari. They’re okay, but my ninety-seven-year-old grandfather is there, but he’s okay,” added the 35-year old Batangueño.

With the Gin Kings up by a commanding 3-1 lead in the Finals of the 2019 Governors’ Cup against a determined Meralco Bolts squad, Tenorio is looking to dedicate the potential title-clinching Game 5 to his ‘kababayans’.

“I told the players na we dedicate this win and hopefully, the championship on Friday for our kababayans in Batangas. Walang ikakasaya ang mga fans natin sa Batangas kundi yung championship,” said Tenorio.

“We’re really dedicating this championship for our kababayan, especially sa mga kababayan ko sa Batangas,” added the 4th overall pick of the 2006 draft.
