Malonzo, Thompson running 2-3 in BPC race

Brgy. Ginebra’s Jamie Malonzo and Scottie Thompson finished 2nd and 3rd in the race for the PBA Season 47 Commissioner’s Cup Best Player of the Conference after the close of the elimination round last week

Malonzo accumulated 31.3 SPs after leading the Gin King locals in scoring with an average of 14.3 points to go with 6.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game in 12 outings.

Thompson followed suit with 31.1 SPs. The reigning league Most Valuable Player also played in all of the crowd darlings’ matches and submitted solid averages of 11.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.7 steals.

NorthPort’s Robert Bolick emerged as the front-runner with 35.9 SPs.

Magnolia guard Jio Jalalon came in 4th with 30.4 SP’s while San Miguel’s CJ Perez rounded up the Top 5 with 30.3 SPs.

Brgy. Ginebra center Christian Standhardinger finished in 9th spot with 27.9 SPs. The 6-foot-8 Fil-German missed one game and had averages of 11.7 points, 8.1 boards and 2.7 assists.

Also making the Top 10 are Don Trollano of NLEX (29.09), Arvin Tolentino of NorthPort (29.08), Javee Mocon of Phoenix (28.6), and Jeron Teng of Converge (27.8).

Justin Brownlee, meanwhile, landed in 3rd place in the race for the Best Import award.

The 34-year old, soon-to-be-naturalized Filipino finished with 52.4 SPs. He trails Earl Clark of NLEX (56.0) and Quincy Miller of Converge (55.3).

The 2-time Best Import awardee is currently averaging 28.2 points, 10.5 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks per content.
