Mark Caguioa set to play one more year for Brgy. Ginebra

Mark “The Spark” Caguioa is returning for one more season with Brgy. Ginebra.

The 40-year old Caguioa made the announcement during the team’s 2019 Governors’ Cup championship party for the fans, Monday night at the Metrotent Convention Center at Metrowalk in Pasig City.

“Coach Al pulled me aside and sinabi niya na he is going to give me one more year. I want to thank coach Al for giving me one more year,” said the 3rd overall pick in the 2001 draft.

The 6-foot-1 Fil-Am, who will be entering his 19th season in the league, is a 3-time PBA scoring champion with 8 titles tucked under his belt. He won Rookie of the Year honors in 2001 and made the Mythical 1st Team thrice. His defining moment came in 2012 when he won his first and only Most Valuable Player award. The San Juan City native also has 3 Best Player of the Conference citations to boot.

“Siguro as long as I can,” replied Caguioa when asked how long he still plans to play.

“My body is not hurting, I feel like I can still go for 10 years or something like that. But I’m just saying that, but I still feel good,” he added.
