Maurice Shaw to play of Brgy. Ginebra in Governors’ Cup resumption

Maurice Shaw will suit up for Brgy. Ginebra in the resumption of the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup.
The 37-year old Fil-Am, who was initially enlisted as part of the squad’s 3×3 team, confirmed on Monday night the news of his elevation to 5×5.
“I’m playing for Ginebra this conference and I’m so excited for the opportunity,” said Shaw during an interview with SPIN.ph.
“Worked my ass for a month and it showed,” added the former Harlem Globetrotter.
The 6-foot-9, 260-pound big man was drafted 2nd overall by Blackwater during the 2019 rookie draft. He played sparingly for the Dioceldo Sy-owned franchise due to an assortment of injuries and was eventually dealt to NLEX along with Roi Sumang and Don Trollano for the Road Warriors’ first round pick in the 2021 rookie draft, 4th overall.
The Bossing then sent the pick to TNT in exchange for Simon Enciso, David Semerad plus the Tropang Giga’s 2023 first round pick and 2024 second round pick. The flagship team of the MVP group used that pick to select Mikey Williams.
Shaw never saw action for NLEX and was released earlier this year after the two parties reached a buyout agreement.
His contract with the Gin Kings will now have to be updated to his new playing status.
