Prince Caperal’s ‘elbow hit’ on Chris Newsome upgraded to FFP1
Prince Caperal was charged with a flagrant foul penalty 1 for his ‘elbow hit’ on Chris Newsome during Game 2 of the Brgy. Ginebra vs Meralco quarterfinal series, Friday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
The move by Caperal, which wasn’t called by the referees, was posted by Newsome on his Twitter account and was eventually reviewed by the league.

The game official who was closest to the action will face suspension while the Ginebra big man would be fined with the amount still to be determined by the technical committee.
Commissioner Willie Marcial disclosed that referee Janine Nicandro was the one who missed the call.
“Nakita namin ‘yung video, hindi tinawagan ng referee. So nasuspend ‘yung referee dahil glaring. I-uupgrade din ng F1 ‘yun,” said Marcial.
The league chief added that Caperal’s monetary penalty would be at least P5,000.
Meanwhile, the incident between Christian Standhardinger and Franky Johnson has yet to be resolved as Johnson failed to arrive on time during his scheduled meeting with Marcial due to heavy traffic in the vicinity of MOA Arena.
“Pinatawag ko si Johnson, na-traffic lang. Siguro after the game na ‘yun kasi sobrang dikit na, ayaw ko masira ‘yung attention niya,” said Marcial.
“Si Christian, nakausap ko. Sinabi niya kung ano nangyari. I-assess natin sa mga nakakita at kung may video tayo,” he added.
