Scottie Thompson doubtful to play in All-Star Game

For the third consecutive game, Scottie Thompson was unable to see action, watching from the sidelines in street clothes as Meralco dominated with a 91-73 victory in the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup on Friday, March 15.

Brgy. Ginebra’s chief playmaker continues to battle a persistent back injury that has been a concern since his college days at Perpetual in the NCAA, hampering his ability to take the court and contribute to his team’s success.

“Frustrated sa sarili ko kasi wala akong ibang magawa, hindi ako makatulong,” said Thompson shortly after the crowd darlings absorbed their first defeat in the conference.

“But hindi naman din guaranteed na kung nandoon ako, maganda yung lalaruin namin. Frustrated lang kasi nga hindi ako nakatulong sa team,” he added.

Adding to Thompson’s frustration is the likelihood that he will miss out on the opportunity to participate in the upcoming All-Star Game in Bacolod.

Representing Team Japeth alongside fellow Brgy. Ginebra players Christian Standhardinger, Jamie Malonzo, Maverick Ahanmisi, and Stanley Pringle, Thompson’s absence is a disappointment for fans eagerly awaiting to see him in the action.

“I doubt sa All-Star aabot, April siguro. For now, wino-work ko yung way na makabalik talaga,” said Thompson. “May target ako in mind na sana makabalik talaga, pero so far, sa doctor, wala pa talagang timetable.”

Unfortunately, it seems that supporters will have to exercise patience as Thompson continues his recovery and rehabilitation, delaying his much-anticipated hardcourt return.
