Scottie Thompson in prime position to win first-ever BPC award

Scottie Thompson is currently in a prime position to win his first-ever Best Player of the Conference award after a stellar showing in the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup.
The 28-year old former University of Perpetual Help standout was named as one of the official candidates for the much-coveted individual award along with Robert Bolick and Arwind Santos of NorthPort, Matthew Wright of Phoenix Super LPG and Mikey Williams of TNT.
Of the five, Thompson is the only BPC candidate whose team is still in contention after Brgy. Ginebra advanced to the Finals of the season-ending conference following its 3-1 semifinal round victory over the 2nd-seeded NLEX Road Warriors.
The Gin Kings will take on the Meralco Bolts in the championship round for the 4th time in the last 5 seasons. The MVP-owned squad lost all three previous Finals duels with the crowd darlings.
Bolick remained on top of the statistical race with 39.9 SPs built on solid averages of 21.8 points, 8.8 assists, and 2.2 steals.
The do-it-all Brgy. Ginebra guard occupies 2nd place with 35.0 statistical points while Wright is at 3rd with 33.6. Santos (33.5) and Williams (32.6) round up the top five.
Thompson, who was named as the Finals MVP of the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup, submitted 4-game averages of 12.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 4.7 assists during the semis.
