Scottie Thompson to get own signature shoe line with World Balance
Scottie Thompson will have his own signature shoe line after the do-it-all Brgy. Ginebra guard signed a deal with local sportswear brand World Balance.
The 27-year old product of University of Perpetual Help thus became the first local player to endorse the brand since PBA legend Philip Cezar did so in the 1980’s.
“It was only just a dream. ST1 coming out soon,” wrote Thompson on his Instagram account.
The 2018 Commissioner’s Cup Finals MVP is the second active player in the league to secure a shoe deal after San Miguel star Terrence Romeo signed with Chinese sports apparel brand Peak in 2017 and subsequently released his first signature shoe, the ‘TR7.’
Barny Chong, president of World Balance’s parent company CHG Global Inc., disclosed that Thompson’s heart and hustle were the key factors why the company chose him as brand endorser.
“Thompson caught our attention largely thanks to his tenacity, rebounding prowess, and versatile play on both ends of the court as well as his mindset of grit and hard work which make him a natural fit for World Balance,” said Chong.
“We are thrilled to add him to our WB family and we can’t wait to collaborate with him in bringing an exclusive collection to the market,” he added.
Thompson, who averaged 11.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.1 steals in the Gin King’s title-clinching run in the 2020 Philippine Cup, will first sport the brand’s basketball and performance apparel before releasing his signature kicks.
