Slaughter laughs off Cone’s statement, says he loves social media and his haters

Greg Slaughter laughed off Tim Cone’s analysis on why the 31-year old Fil-Am suddenly decided to take a break from playing in the PBA.
Cone earlier suggested that criticisms from social media had taken its toll on the 7-footer.
“I think he really needs to take a mental break. He wasn’t treated well on the internet as we all know. I think that just kinda weighed on him and, more importantly, on his family,” said Cone during the PBA Media Day at the Okada Manila on Thursday.
“I think that with the blessing and encouragement of his family, they want him to take a break,” he added.
Slaughter, however, found his mentor’s statement somewhat hilarious.
“LOL! Far from it. Social media has been all love from my perspective as we all know,” replied Slaughter on his Twitter account.
Cone, during the course of the impasse, disclosed that Slaughter already informed him of his plan to take a break shortly after the team successfully reclaimed the Governors’ Cup crown via 4-2 series win over the Meralco Bolts in the Finals.
“When I walked into the room with Greg, first thing he said was I’m going to take a break. That was our conversation. We didn’t get anything else done but that conversation. That’s the true honest story on what happened,” revealed Cone.
The team has just recently submitted an offer sheet for the disgruntled center which would effectively prevent him from becoming an unrestricted free agent.
