Stanley Pringle ruled out for remainder of 2021 Governors’ Cup

Brgy. Ginebra suffered a big blow in its Governors’ Cup title-retention drive after Stanley Pringle was ruled out of the season-ending conference due to meniscus injury on his left knee.

Gin Kings head coach Tim Cone broke the unfortunate news after a fan on Twitter inquired about the status of the 34-year old Fil-Am.

“Stanley had surgery performed last week on the meniscus of his left knee and will be out 3 months — 6 weeks of non-weight bearing therapy and 6 weeks of weight bearing therapy,” wrote Cone.

“That will put him out of the Governors’ Cup.”

Pringle, the top overall pick of the 2014 draft, suited up for the defending champions during their opening day win over Alaska last December 12 and managed to contribute 7 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block. He then missed the succeeding matches.

The Best Player of the 2020 Philippine Cup reportedly hurt his knee in practice following a collision with MJ Ayaay.

The team initially thought that the former ABL player suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury but was deemed otherwise after a second MRI.

Aside from Pringle, also on the crowd darlings’ injured list are Mark Caguioa (calf), Joe Devance (knee), Jared Dillinger (patellar tendon) and Aljon Mariano (foot).
