TNT repeats over Brgy. Ginebra, takes 2-0 Finals series lead

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson showcased an extraordinary performance in Game 2, playing every single minute without a trace of fatigue etched on his face. In fact, he was spotted beaming with joy during a timeout late in the contest, a testament to his enduring spirit.
And there were plenty of reasons for his upbeat demeanor.
TNT has established a formidable 2-0 lead over Ginebra after a decisive 96-84 victory in their PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup Finals series, held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Despite logging a full 48 minutes on the court, Hollis-Jefferson displayed remarkable stamina, contributing to 12 of the Tropang Giga’s last 13 points, effectively quelling any hopes of a Kings comeback and moving them closer to their title defense.
He erupted for an impressive stat line, tallying 37 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists. His clutch performance included a thunderous three-pointer late in the game—one of his six deep shots—followed by a perfect pass to a wide-open Glenn Khobuntin for another three, pushing TNT to a commanding 94-84 lead with just 1:33 remaining, effectively sealing the deal against Ginebra.
Calvin Oftana supported the effort with a strong double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Khobuntin added 13 points, featuring three pivotal three-pointers.
With TNT holding a narrow 72-71 advantage, they struck back with consecutive three-pointers from Jayson Castro and RR Pogoy to kick off the final quarter. Ginebra’s Justin Brownlee managed a quick response, but Hollis-Jefferson countered with a layup and a free throw, widening the gap to 82-73—a lead that Ginebra ultimately could not overcome despite their late-game efforts.
Brownlee led the Gin ings with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Scottie Thompson contributed 18 points and nine rebounds. Stephen Holt and Japeth Aguilar chipped in with 11 points each, but the Kings faced the same shooting woes from Game 1, struggling once again with a dismal 7-of-27 from three-point range.
The series continues with Game 3 on Friday, Nov. 1, as the Tropang Giga seek to extend their advantage to a commanding 3-0 against the Kings.
