Brgy. Ginebra moved closer to a stint in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup championship round after dismantling Meralco, 91-84, in Game 3 of their semifinal series, Sunday night at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Stanley Pringle rebounded from a forgettable showing in Game 2 to lead the Gin Kings with 24 big points, including a 5-point swing in the closing minutes of the payoff period which kept the hard-fighting Bolts at bay. The 33-year old Fil-Am added 9 boards and 6 assists in a sterling performance which resulted in yet another best player of the game citation.
The victory gave the crowd darlings a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five affair and will try to close out their victims on Wednesday, November 25.
“It takes a lot of effort to win a basketball game, and sometimes, you just don’t have that same effort going into the next game, and another team picks up the effort. Those are the challenges for coaches,” explained head coach Tim Cone during the post-game presser.
“I wish I had a magic potion for you to tell you how it’s done, but there is no magic. It’s just a lot of hard work by the guys getting ready mentally and physically to come out and play another game,” he added.
Prince Caperal backstopped Pringle with 15 points while LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar chipped in 12 markers apiece.
