WATCH: Best Player – LA Tenorio [Brgy. Ginebra vs TNT | November 6, 2020]
Brgy. Ginebra is already in playoff mode and it showed.
Stanley Pringle and Japeth Aguilar provided the firepower while LA Tenoiro the stability as the Kings beat TNT 85-79 Friday in a battle of erstwhile co-leaders in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart 5G-powered AUF Sports Arena in Angeles City.
Pringle notched a team-high 28 points on top of 12 rebounds, Aguilar had his own double-double of 19 and 11 while Tenorio finished with 15 markers and nine assists in leading Ginebra to its third straight win and seventh in nine games overall.
More wins in their last two games and Ginebra would lock in on a top four spot and the twice-to-beat advantage that goes with it in the quarterfinals.
Coach Tim Cone later said it is a combination of TNT having a bad night and his players willing the team to victory that spelled the difference.
“Just trying to find a way to win. This is a key game for us. This is playoff mode basketball for us,” said Cone.
“That’s what I was thinking about. Was it our defense or did they just have a poor shooting night? I think they just had a poor shooting night. They didn’t have a lot of legs because they played yesterday. Three-point shooting is a lot about having fresh legs and I just don’t think they had their legs tonight,” he added.
