WATCH: Brgy. Ginebra vs Blackwater Game Highlights [PBA S48 Comm’s Cup | Nov. 26, 2023]

Brgy. Ginebra displayed resilience as they overcame a challenging start, rallying from a 17-point deficit in the opening quarter to secure a 90-87 victory over Blackwater in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup held at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Sunday.

Despite trailing by nine points, 41-50, at halftime, the Gin Kings composed themselves and mounted a comeback against a skidding Bossing team in the latter part of the game.

Leading the charge was Tony Bishop, who contributed 25 points and 11 rebounds. Maverick Ahanmisi and Christian Standhardinger provided the local support as the defending champs dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Bossing 30-19.

The game was ultimately sealed by two free throws from Bishop and a clutch bucket by Standhardinger, assisted by Ahanmisi. This victory improved the crowd darlings’ record to 3-1.

Brgy. Ginebra, Meralco, and Phoenix Super LPG are now tied for second place after Coach Tim Cone’s team defeated Blackwater, who suffered their fourth consecutive loss after a successful season debut.

Ahanmisi continued to impress as the newest Gin King, scoring 20 points, grabbing six rebounds, dishing out five assists, and making two steals in 41 minutes of play.

Standhardinger also had a double-double performance with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists in 42:11 minutes of play.

Stanley Pringle, who came off the bench, contributed 10 points in 25 minutes of action.

In the opening half, the Gin Kings struggled and failed to match the pace of the Bossing, who were on fire with 9-of-20 shooting from beyond the arc.

RK Ilagan was the key player for Blackwater, as he scored 13 points, including three triples, in the first two quarters.
