WATCH: Brgy. Ginebra vs Limitless [PBA 3×3 | 2nd Conf. Leg 1 Battle for 3rd | Feb. 20, 2022]
Beefed-up Barangay Ginebra flexed its muscles to grab a quarterfinal seat in the PBA 3×3 Lakas ng Tatlo Second Conference Leg 1 Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Gin Kings, who recruited Encho Serrano and Jayson David in-between conferences to reinforce holdovers Jollo Go and Denice Villamor, went on a rampage in Pool A and swept all four assignments.
Coach Kirk Collier’s crew made it four-of-four for the day with a 21-15 shellacking of Terrafirma en route to the top seeding in Pool A heading into Sunday’s knockout stage.
Platinum, which acquired former Terrafirma gunner Matt Salem to take the place of 3×3 vet Karl Dehesa, quickly rebounded from that opening-game loss to Ginebra with triumphs over the Dyip, 17-12, and Sista, 21-15.
Meanwhile, the Tropang Giga, third placers in the maiden conference, leaned on Samboy de Leon’s jumper to squeak past San Miguel Beer, 20-19, before outduelling Meralco 3×3, 18-12.
The Bolts, who welcomed back Tonino Gonzaga after getting sidelined by injury in the Conference 1 Grand Finals, bounced back with a 21-13 drubbing of Pioneer Pro Tibay for 1-1.
They are tied for second with the Beermen, who entered the win column at the expense of Pioneer, 21-16.
