WATCH: Brgy. Ginebra vs Meralco Highlights [Finals Game 4 | April 13, 2022]

PBA Season 46 Governors' Cup

After bagging the highest individual award for imports and locals in the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup, Justin Brownlee and Scottie Thompson took charge and powered Brgy. Ginebra over Meralco, 95-84, in Game 4 of the best-of-seven championship series, Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The dynamic duo each dropped 27 big points as the Gin Kings leveled the Finals series at 2-games apiece going into crucial Game 5 which is scheduled on Sunday, April 17 at the same venue.

The 33-year old Brownlee, who received his first Best Import citation for the Governor’s Cup and second overall prior to the match, also contributed game-highs of 18 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks in 45 minutes of action.

Thompson, on the other hand, copped his first-ever Best Player of the Conference award since barging into the pro league as 5th overall pick of the Gin Kings in the 2015 draft.

“Our guys are vets they know what to do. We knew we have to come out with better fire in this third quarter,” said Brgy. Ginebra head coach Tim Cone during the post-game press conference. “Everybody’s contributing. I think we played the best game in the series. It’s not always going to be like this but it’s great to see everybody contributing together.”

LA Tenorio added 17 points, including 5 straight in the closing moments of the game which sealed the deal for the crowd darlings, while Christian Standhardinger chipped in 11.

“If I was the TV panelist, I wouldn’t know who to give the best player to. It could have been LA for those big threes, it could have been Scottie for his game long brilliance, Christian for his defense and making shots, and always Justin,” said Cone.

Jeff Chan and Nards Pinto finished with 9 and 4 markers, respectively. Japeth Aguilar made his much-awaited Finals debut but missed all his three attempts and ended up scoreless in 10 minutes of play.
