WATCH: Brgy. Ginebra vs Phoenix Game Highlights [PBA S48 PH Cup | Mar. 10, 2024]
A balanced Barangay Ginebra game followed up Jamie Malonzo’s 32-point sizzler the last time as the Gin Kings repulsed the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters, 102-92, Sunday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Malonzo, with a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double, led five Gin Kings in double figures with two others chipping in at least seven as Ginebra got to a 2-0 start in the tourney after a 113-107 winning debut versus Rain or Shine on Friday.
Ginebra’s well-spread production, spiked by 16 three-pointers, was visible in a 32-19 third-quarter juggernaut, leaving Phoenix behind before eventually suffering a second loss in a row.
Stanley Pringle fired three treys, the first ending the third at 79-62, the second giving the Kings their second of two 19-point spreads at 96-77 and the third stopping Phoenix’s run in the fourth.
Pringle finished with 13 as the team’s second-best scorer as Nard Pinto, Ralph Cu and Christian Standhardinger tallied 12 apiece.
Cu had a nine-point spree in their breakaway from a slim 47-32 lead at the half.
Japeth Aguilar contributed nine markers plus five boards while Maverick Ahanmisi had all-around numbers of 11 rebounds, eight assists and seven points against one turnover.
