WATCH: Coach Cone, The Winningest Coach of Philippine Basketball (PBA)

Brgy. Ginebra anticipates Scottie Thompson’s readiness for their Christmas Day match against TNT in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

According to Coach Tim Cone, the former MVP is projected to be sidelined for a duration of two to three weeks. However, he remains optimistic about Thompson’s participation on December 25th, as the reigning champions face off against the Tropang Giga at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“He’ll be ready by Christmas. That’s for sure,” Cone said.

“He better be. Or else I’ll injure him myself,” he added.

Thompson sustained an injury to his left leg when Bossing big Bradywyn Guinto accidentally landed on it amidst a chaotic pursuit for the ball in the Gin Kings’ recent match against Blackwater.

Despite managing to complete the game against the Jeff Cariason-mentored squad, Thompson opted to rest and did not participate in the team’s victorious 110-99 encounter against Terrafirma Dyip on Sunday night.

“Initial diagnosis from Doc (George) Canlas is 2-3 weeks minimum,” said Cone.

According to Cone, Thompson, who is known to be a quick healer, could potentially make a return even sooner.

“We’ll see. He wants to come back quicker. He said that about his hand when he broke his hand with Gilas. He said I’ll definitely going to be back. All the doctors and everybody doubted him, and of course, he got back.”

“So we’re not going to doubt him at this point either,” said Cone.
