WATCH: First practice of Justin Brownlee!

Brgy. Ginebra is bringing back the second winningest import in the PBA.

Justin Brownlee is set to reinforce the league’s most popular franchise in the upcoming Season 47 Commissioner’s Cup which is set to tip-off on September 21 as well in the season-ending Governors’ Cup.

The second conference features an import height limit of 6-foot-10.

While Brownlee, who stands 6-foot-5, will be giving up a lot in terms of ceiling, Gin Kings head coach Tim Cone has no issues with letting him go up against taller reinforcements.

“It’s a no-brainer. We’re bringing back Justin Brownlee,” said Cone when asked who’ll reinforce the team in the Commissioner’s Cup.

“But the decision to bring back Justin, more than his skill-set and his capabilities to play against bigger imports, was because of his familiarity with the system and the attitude he brings to the team. He’s a proven winner. No doubt, we’re bringing him back,” he added.

This marks the second time the 34-year old native of Tifton, Georgia will reinforce the crowd darlings for back-to-back conferences. He first did the trick four years ago and was able to power the Gin Kings all the way to the title opposite the powerhouse San Miguel Beermen.

It was a different story, however, in the succeeding conference as Magnolia eliminated the Gin Kings in the semifinal round. The Hotshots eventually went on to win the crown at the expense of Alaska.

Brownlee won his 5th PBA title in last season’s Governors’ Cup, his 4th in the conference and all against Meralco in the Finals. Currently, only Sean Chambers has more championships with six, all won during Cone’s tenure with the Aces.

“It’s the same with Sean Chambers. The decision to bring Justin is not just because of Brownlee’s talent, but more because he’s a great chemistry guy. His teammates love him, the fans love him and I’ve never seen an import who is extremely motivated to win every tournament than Justin,” explained Cone.
