WATCH: Gin Kings’ halfcourt shot contest!

In the middle of a killer stretch, San Miguel Beer meets Barangay Ginebra in one of the most-awaited matchup in the tourney.

The Beermen and the Gin Kings square off at 5:45 p.m. Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, with each side pursuing a drive for a Top 4 finish in the PBA Governors’ Cup single-round-robin elims.

Booked to play three straight games in six nights, the Beermen took off with a 145-132 disposal of the NorthPort Batang Pier Wednesday to stay with a piece of the lead at 6-1 before playing the Gin Kings Friday then the TNT Tropang Giga in another highly anticipated tiff Sunday.

“It’s a tough week, and it will test our character,” said San Miguel coach Jorge Gallent.

“We’re taking it one game at a time. We’re through with the NorthPort game, and we’re not thinking about Sunday; we’re just thinking about Friday,” Gallent also said.

The SMB rookie coach and his chargers brace for a battle with the Kings, who must be even more tougher now coming off a loss to the Magnolia Hotshots Sunday.

With that defeat, the Kings dropped to fifth at 3-1 behind the Beermen (6-1), the Tropang Giga (6-1), the Converge FiberXers (5-1) and the NLEX Road Warriors (4-1).
