Brgy. Ginebra fended off a spirited TNT side, 81-67, to snap a two-game slide in the PBA on Tour Friday night at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Gin Kings blew a 16-point lead in the first half but came through with a strong closeout to go 5-5 in the preseason joust presented by Arena Plus after back-to-back defeats against Meralco and Converge.

Staring at a slim 61-62 deficit early in the payoff period, Ginebra uncorked a 20-5 finishing kick behind On Tour revelations Syndey Onwubere and Von Pessumal to send TNT back to the ground after its breakthrough win over Phoenix.

The crowd darlings shoot for a resounding exit from the PBA on Tour against NLEX next Sunday at the same venue, enjoying more than a week of break.

Onwubere, eager to prove his worth for the 48th PBA Season, collared a double-double of 21 points and 16 rebounds laced by four assists to lead the way for the Gin Kings.

Jeremiah Gray pumped in 18 points and 11 rebounds while Pessumal scattered 15 points, three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal.

Pessumal’s trey put the icing on the cake for Ginebra, erecting a 79-67 lead inside the last two minutes for the win.
