PBA Season 47 Governors' Cup

Christian Standhardinger continued to put in imports’ numbers and Barangay Ginebra kept on winning even with a crippled lineup.

After delivering 31 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists the last time out, Standhardinger came through with another near triple-double statline with 28 markers, 12 boards and eight dish-offs as the Gin Kings pushed forward with a 109-89 disposal of the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Friday.

It’s also another day in the office for Justin Brownlee, Jamie Malonzo and Scottie Thompson, with Von Pessumal leading the significant help of the bench mob as Ginebra rolled to a third straight win and closed in on a guaranteed Top 4 finish in the elims with a 6-2 win-loss mark.

Behind a giant 31-9 tear in the second quarter, Standhardinger and his teammates rampaged to a 59-30 lead at the half, without looking back, thus foiling Phoenix’ first shot at claiming the last ticket to the quarterfinals.

But at 4-6, the Fuel Master still enjoy a comfortable lead over pursuers Rain or Shine, Terrafirma and NorthPort, all at 2-7.

Brgy. Ginebra coach Tim Cone was elated they got the job done with his main men getting some rest, with able relief from their bench.

“As much as our guys are playing well, they need help from the bench. And our guys coming off the bench played well, they’re awesome tonight,” said Cone, making special mention of Pessumal who fired 14 points, including four three-pointers.
