WATCH: Jamie Malonzo Highlights [Brgy. Ginebra vs NorthPort | Feb. 10, 2023]
PBA Season 47 Governors' Cup
There’s still no shortage in heart and firepower for Barangay Ginebra even with its tremendous shortage in frontcourt personnel.
Living on its next-man-up mantra, the Gin Kings repulsed the NorthPort Batang Pier, their returning ace local Robert Bolick and new import Kevin Murphy, 115-100, to stay unscathed in the PBA Governors Cup at the MOA Arena in Pasay City Friday.
Minus Christian Standhardinger and Japeth Aguilar, the Kings banked on the big games of Justin Brownlee, Jamie Malonzo, Nards Pinto and Jeremiah Gray in chalking up a third straight win in as many outings in the season-ending tourney.
Brownlee came through with another triple-double job with 22 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists while Malonzo fired a career-high 28 points that went with 10 rebounds to lead the Ginebra juggernaut against the Batang Pier whom they dealt a fifth straight defeat.
Pinto fired four triples to highlight an 18-point game while Gray banged away three treys and a total of 16 markers, underscoring the support Brownlee got on the continued absence of Standhardinger and Aguilar.
“We’re banged up and some key players are out, we just gotta dig deep and gotta give 100 percent effort,” said Malonzo, who’s superb not just with his numbers but the effort he put up defending the new NorthPort import.
Ginebra coach Tim Cone said Malonzo was incredible with his energy.
