WATCH: Japeth Aguilar back in full force! Defense – offense – defense!
Brgy. Ginebra went 2-0 under acting coach Richard del Rosario and put a lock on a playoff berth in the PBA Philippine Cup with a 106-82 demolition of Terrafirma Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Japeth Aguilar, Christian Standhardinger and Scottie Thompson provided much boost as Del Rosario and the Ginebra crew scored a follow-up on their 105-89 win over Converge on a searing second-half breakaway.
“Our character showed only in the second half. The first half was out of our character, we were outhustled. You can see the energy of Terrafirma since they have nothing to lose and everything to gain,” said Del Rosario.
“For our part, there’s pressure as we can’t slip, bababa kami sa standings. We can’t lose focus,” added Del Rosario, thankful they found a wakeup call and pounded the opportunity to once again draw level with San Miguel Beer on top at 6-1.
“Hopefully, the win today would serve us well and we bring the lesson here to our next game,” Del Rosario also said.
As the Kings unleashed their artillery in the second half, the Dyip just couldn’t keep up, squandering an eight-point lead and staying winless in seven outings.
With Aguilar, Standhardinger and Thompson themselves as the lethal lead forces, the Kings turned the game around on a scorching 20-1 tear.
