WATCH: Japeth Aguilar rejects Arwind Santos!

In their first game back in front of a live crowd, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel did not disappoint.

Justin Brownlee registered another all-around game while Arvin Tolentino had a career night as Brgy. Ginebra was simply too much to handle in a 108-82 trouncing of an import-less NorthPort Batang Pier in the 2021 PBA Governor’s Cup.

Brownlee had 28 points, grabbed nine boards, and dished out six assists to spearhead Ginebra to its second successive win of the season-ending conference. Tolentino scored 16 points in his first start of the conference including 4 treys.

“What stood out I thought was our defense,” bared Ginebra coach Tim Cone, who had to replace injured star guard Stanley Pringle in the starting line-up with the sophomore Tolentino.

The reigning Governor’s Cup champions also withstood Robert Bolick’s career game as the fiery guard scattered a game-high 32 points and added seven rebounds and six assists for the Batang Pier who dropped their fourth straight match.

“I thought Bolick shredded us. He had a tremendous game. He just shot the ball extremely well. He made tough shots and got in transition. He is really a special player. But I thought we did a good job at rotating,” Cone added.

Brgy. Ginebra took the upper hand for the entire game, leading by as much as 28 points and converted 20 Batang Pier turnovers to 30 points while also recording 31 assists in 45 made baskets.

Japeth Aguilar contributed 11 points while Scottie Thompson had another do-it-all night of eight points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.
