WATCH: John Pinto Highlights [Brgy. Ginebra vs Phoenix | June 14, 2023]
Brgy. Ginebra finally barged into the win column of the 2023 PBA on Tour after a 95-89 victory over skidding Phoenix Super LPG, Wednesday night at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
John Pinto led the charge for the Gin Kings who lost their first 2 outings by scattering a game-high 22 points in 37 minutes of action. The 19th overall pick of the 2014 rookie draft shot 9-of-15 from the field including 2-of-5 from long distance and also contributed 4 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals.
The crowd darlings improved to 1-2 while the Fuel Masters absorbed their third straight defeat and fell down to 2-3.
“Sinabi lang namin sa dugout we just have to be better than our last game so yung focus lang muna namin ay yung sarili namin,” said Brgy. Ginebra assistant coach Richard del Rosario who’s in-charge of the squad for the preseason tournament.
Aljon Mariano finished with a double-double of 18 points and 10 boards while the reserve duo of Raymond Aguilar and Jayson David scored 15 apiece.
Jeremiah Gray continued to struggle as the 26-year-old Fil-Am could only cough up 3 points on a miserable 0-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc and 1-of-10 overall.
The Gin Kings will be back in action on the 17th against the NorthPort Batang Pier at the Batangas City Coliseum.
