WATCH: Justin Brownlee reacts to LA Tenorio’s bad first impression!

LA Tenorio felt miserable after making two costly miscues during the closing seconds of Game 3 which resulted in NLEX pulling off its first win in the semifinal series.

Moments after the crushing defeat, Justin Brownlee consoled the 37-year old playmaker by promising that Brgy. Ginebra would get back at the Road Warriors and win the next game.

And that’s exactly what happened as the Gin Kings pulverized the MVP-owned squad, 112-93, to win the series, 3-1, and book the first Finals ticket in the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup.

Brownlee, a 4-time PBA champion and 1-time Best Import awardee, led the defending champions with a conference-best 47 points to go along with 10 boards, 6 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks in 44 scintillating minutes of action.

Tenorio is grateful that the team’s resident reinforcement kept his word and delivered the team one step closer to retaining the title.

“Tinupad niya lang yung promise niya sa akin last game na ‘don’t worry about it, we’re going to win the next game,’” said Tenorio of his conversation with Brownlee.

“He did it for us. I have to make special mention of Justin because he really worked hard for this game,” he added.

It wasn’t all Brownlee, however, as Tenorio also did his part. The Best Player of the 2013 Commissioner’s Cup bounced back from a forgettable Game 3 performance and finished with 14 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in 42 minutes of play.

Magnolia and Meralco will figure in a knock-out match on Friday, April 1 for the right to meet Brgy. Ginebra in the championship round.
