WATCH: Scottie Thompson Highlights [Brgy. Ginebra vs TNT Finals Game 2 | Apr. 12, 2023]

PBA Season 47 Governors' Cup

TNT took advantage of Justin Brownlee’s off-night and scored a 13-point victory over Brgy. Ginebra, 95-82, in Game 2 of the best-of-seven championship series in the PBA Season 47 Governors’ Cup, Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Brownlee was able to contribute only 12 points on a miserable 3-of-16 shooting from the field including 0-of-5 from 3-point country. The Gin Kings drained only 7 of 29 attempts (24%) from beyond the arc compared to the Tropang Giga’s 15-of-35 (42%).

The series is now tied at 1-game apiece with Game 3 set on Friday, April 14, 5:45pm also at the Big Dome.

Richard Hollis-Jefferson paced the flagship team of the MVP group with 23 points in 47 minutes of play. The former NBA player grabbed 19 boards, issued 9 assists and stole the ball twice.

“The guy here put all his energy on defending Brownlee. I told Rondae at halftime, even if he doesn’t score as much for as long as Brownlee doesn’t score, other guys are going to pick up the scoring for him,” said TNT head coach Jojo Lastimosa on his prized reinforcement.

“He did some scoring in the second half, which is a good thing, but Rondae took the challenge of guarding Brownlee pretty much the whole game,” he added.

Mikey Williams dropped 21 points highlighted by 5-of-11 shooting from long distance while Roger Pogoy and Calvin Oftana chipped in 17 and 14 markers, respectively.

Christian Standhardinger paced the defending champs with a game-high 29 points to go with 11 boards, 2 assists and a steal. Jamie Malonzo added 17 points while Scottie Thompson finished with 16 points, 10 boards, 5 assists and a steal.
